Vancouver headquartered sustainable agriculture technology startup Terramera has reportedly raised investment from Canada’s prominent cleantech fund entity, ArcTern, in an extended Series B round. S2G Ventures and Ospraie Ag Science also participated in the round and the total funding raised was US$48.5 million.

For the record, the agriculture tech startup is developing novel technologies to change the way food is grown and disrupt the economics of agriculture. With the help of Actigate™ - a targeted performance technology, the company aims at constantly reducing the synthetic pesticide load across the globe by close to 80% by 2030.

Arc Tern aims at investing in innovative and advanced clean technology firms that address the problems associated with climate change and promote sustainability. The bio platform approach of ArcTern Ventures which combines science with data collection and nature supported its latest investment in Terramera.

The new approach carries the potential to positively affect the farming practices which not only help in enhanced farm operations in terms of water, use of pesticides and nutrients but also supplement the use of regenerative agricultural methods.

According to Tom Rand, Managing Partner at ArcTern, Terramera possesses the expertise and technology to change commercial agriculture in an organized manner. The approach adopted by the startup will lead to enhanced farm productivity and the ability to remove carbon from well-managed soils, he further added.

ArcTern Ventures is a leading venture capital company based in Toronto. The company constantly invests in innovative clean technologies that address depleting environmental issues and sustainability.

For the record, ArcTern was established by Tom Rand and Murray McCaig with the belief that the escalating shift towards a greener economy will disrupt all the industries and foster a successful business opportunity for both huge financial returns and positive impact on the environment.
