Nokia Corporation, a global leader in 5G, networks, and phones, has reportedly announced that Movistar Chile has deployed Nokia’s IMPACT CDP Entitlement Server software. The move will offer more enhanced services for selected smartwatches and to efficiently manage those services. Movistar Chile is Telefónica’s affiliate in Chile.

The move makes Movistar Chile be the first operator to deliver innovative smart cellular-enabled mobile services without having to connect to a smartphone. Utilizing eSIM technology, the solution helps Movistar to support wearables and new smartwatches with cutting-edge features including monitoring cardiac activity as well basic functions, like calling, messaging and e-mailing without requiring users to carry a mobile phone.

IMPACT, also known as Intelligent Management Platform for All Connected Things, is one of the leading device management solutions globally based on market share. The platform provides automatic zero-touch activation and tracks the entire life cycle, allowing remote management of networks and IoT (Internet of Things) devices.

The need for such type of remote network management capability offered by IMPACT CDP has significantly increased due to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic.

Movistar Chile is the recent firm to benefit from IMPACT CDP Entitlement Server, with impetus in several Latin American markets, including several Telefónica affiliates in Europe and the region, along with numerous companies in the Asia Pacific, North America, and Europe.

Nokia's IMPACT Connected Device Platform provides valuable capabilities for Movistar's network, allows the business to hit a significant milestone and continue delivering innovative customer-friendly smartwatches and wearables.

The technology allows Chilean consumers, regardless of a mobile connection; to have the very first innovative smartwatch apps and offers Movistar's unprecedented operating efficiencies by zero-touch network control capabilities.

For the record, Nokia provides a comprehensive portfolio of software, network equipment, services, and licensing opportunities across the globe.
