AI vocal biomarker technology provider Ellipsis Health has reportedly disclosed a strategic partnership with healthcare technology company Augmedix.

In addition to allowing healthcare professionals utilizing Augmedix to incorporate mental health assessments during their clinical interactions, which will assist to spot problems early and direct patients to the right care, the agreement between the parties will also signal a key milestone in the delivery of healthcare.

Apparently, this announcement comes at a crucial time.

By the age of 75, it is anticipated that half of the world's population will have experienced at least one sort of mental illness. Over 50% of those with mental health disorders do not receive treatment, and the average time between the onset of symptoms and receiving care is 11 years.

The annual expense of untreated mental illness in the U.S. is close to $300 billion.

Together, Augmedix and Ellipsis Health are working to find solutions to these rising issues by automating medical documentation and mental health screening at scale in a more effective and economical manner.

In addition to ambient medical documentation, Augmedix intends to incorporate the Ellipsis Health application programming interface (API) into its platform so that doctors may also access the patient's anxiety and depression severity scores.

Providers will be able to suggest an appropriate care pathway, such as a referral to behavioral health or a digital intervention, using these new structured data points on mental health, putting patients in contact with the best care at the right time.

In order to effectively deliver whole-person care, the technology can also provide topic analysis, assisting physicians in identifying and addressing issues related to their patients' social determinants of health (SDOH).

Furthermore, Augmedix and Ellipsis Health will help in eliminating the lengthy administrative work whilst saving providers time and enabling them to focus their attention on placing the clinician-patient relationship at the forefront.
