EnChroma launches brand new line of lenses

The new lens series may be beneficial for patients with conditions such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, cataracts, optic neuropathy, and other visual disorders.

While the global prevalence of visual impairments tends to skyrocket, optical product options remain limited. Against such a backdrop, EnChroma, Inc., a developer of cutting-edge lens technology for color blindness, introduced its new product line to address the needs of visually challenged people.

Dubbed as EnChroma® Lx Series, the product line is specifically designed for patients with age-related and low vision conditions. The new series is scheduled to be showcased on January 10-12, 2020 at the Opti Munich International Trade Show for Optics and Design.

EnChroma Lx Series Trial Kit is a combination of four lenses, including a Category 1 lens for low-light and night-time use (80% transmission), Category 2 and 3 lenses for color vision enhancement and combined glare reduction (12% and 36% transmission respectively), and a Category 4 ultra-dark lens for extreme glare management. (3% transmission).

The new series is such designed that it is capable of reducing the disabling effects of glare, enhancing color vision, and improving contrast over multiple lighting conditions. With over 10 years of expertise in lens making, EnChroma has uniquely designed the new lens series to support functional vision for visually impaired people.

Mark Mattison-Shupnick, VP of Business Development and master Optician at EnChroma was quoted saying that availability of low vision options has been limited for patients and EnChroma’s new offering features a special spectral filter that can transmit colors up to two times brighter as compared to average lens. Also, the new lens reduces the intensity of white light, which helps deliver a superior visual experience by facilitating glare reduction, comfort, enhanced contrast and color.

EnChroma closely worked with low vision optometrists, as well as patients with rare eye conditions, such as retinitis pigmentosa while developing the lenses.
