McDonald’s Germany partners with location intelligence firm Targomo

McDonald's Germany has reportedly teamed up with Targomo, a location intelligence business, to meticulously plan its expansion requirements. Targomo uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to analyze geospatial data and unlock the full potential of location intelligence for any business or organization.

Targomo, which has offices in Berlin and Potsdam, was able to persuade the burger company of its technology and skills, and the worldwide fast-food chain became a new customer. In Germany, McDonald's employs the TargomoLOOP software to plan new restaurant sites.

Andreas Weber, McDonald's Germany's Head of Real Estate was reportedly quoted saying that TargomoLOOP will make it much easier to evaluate potential restaurant locations in terms of the necessary catchment area in the future.

The solid data foundation and user-friendly interface were key considerations in the company’s decision to go with TargomoLOOP, Weber added.

One of McDonald's fundamental business strategies is to adapt to change, whether it is in terms of technology, laws, or regional customization. This is why, even after the dining rooms were shuttered, McDonald's prospered during the pandemic.

Just before the pandemic, the company had taken the deliberate decision to invest in digital apps and ordering kiosks, which proved to be profitable during the nationwide lockdowns.

The restaurant chain has been growing at a fast pace as a result of its drive-through and delivery services. According to McDonald’s financial filings, the chain witnessed a 12.7% growth in global sales in the third quarter and a 9.6% increase in the United States.

In the top six markets, digital channels accounted for nearly 20% of sales, or USD 13 billion, year to date, whether it was through an app, stalls in restaurants, or delivery, cited CEO Chris Kempczinski.

McDonald's Germany has also been taking steps towards reducing energy, water, and CO2 emissions during manufacturing, and has replaced its paper boxes with thin wrapping paper, which is made from locally produced grass fibers, making it environmentally friendly.
